To any EC120 Pilot/Owner,

Every time I turn on my cabin heat the amber P2Temp light comes on within a few minutes. Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to turn the fan on when the heat vent is opened?

Thanks for your help!

Its ok, relax there heli pilot, might want to read your flight manual.

When you turn on the heat it opens the P2 gate valve which takes bleed air from the engine for heat in the cockpit. That is why you see the amber flag on the VEMD, this is here due to the use of P2 bleed air is forbidden above the max cont rating for NG or T4.

Good idea to turn off your heat for takeoff and landing.

Hope that helps.

It's the P2Light from the warning panel, not the VEMD. The Eurocopter training manual says to make sure the vents are opened and turn off/down the heat until the P2Temp light turns off. My dilemma is that it happens within minutes of turning on the heat and it's getting very cold in Canada!

Any help would be appreciated!

Most likely the temp sensor or a blockage in the vents.
