Amazing.

Wonder what makes it real time... equations behind providing approximate altitude and airspeed by calculations maybe.

However some aircraft just disappear from the screen in split second...

An ADS-B receiver on the roof of the Frontier building. It's on the web site.

how accurate is this? i was looking at it, and noticed an EK 744 making its way towards AMS, and the routing showed DXB/AMS. all of a sudden it dissappeared of the screen. i then went to check on the AMS website, and it showed no imminent arrivals for an EK from DXB.

(final thought - could it have been an EK cargo?)

Hmm is it just me or is perhaps some of the information on here useful for those intent in doing damage to an aircraft in flight.

Good grief! We (those who live in the U.K.) have really fallen for this police state mantra of "terrorism is everywhere, give up your rights so we can protect you"!

How does this aid and abet any security concern any more so than waiting near an approach path with a timetable and binoculars?

This is a brilliant piece of kit - its a shame that the Wireless Telegraphy Act prevents publishing such data on the internet in this country.

You can get something similiar for the UK, a programm called Planeplotter, even though it cosrs 25 Euros, it uses SBS 1 and radar box sharers in the UK, use it myself and also a sharer.

So you openly admit on a public forum that you break the law!!:\

However, having just tracked a Jordanian Airlines plan in, it appeared to have landed at -100ft!! Could this take into account that much of Holland is actually lying below sea level including the Amsterdam Airport runways???? :bored:

here here re Nanny state....

Whats the difference between going onto teletext or airport web arrivals page
finding out whats due
Identifying the aircraft on finals
Then firing a large gnd to air missile from the back of a van.....

NONE !

....and if we are paranoid about this why don't the powers that be
better protect our radar /tranmitters sites ... !

AMS airport is indeed below sea level. Not 100ft, but approx 10ft.

The height shown will be that sent out by the aircraft transponder. Possibly mis-set QNH, QNH left on 1013, or the transponder reading low compared to the altimeter.

The QNH on the transponder is always set to 1013(.25?).
That's the reason.
