Hello,

Does anyone know if you pass the 170A can it be recored as PIC?I know intergrated guys can call it SPIC-student pilot in command.
What about modular....and can it count toward the hundred hours i require for license issue??
Also can the CPL and IR tests which go down as PIC be counted towards the 100 hours required??Has anyone done this?CAA say anything about it?

thanks in advance

Yes Appendix A page 44 of LASORS 2008 | Personnel Licensing | Safety Regulation (http://www.caa.co.uk/lasors)

170 is part of your course and dual.

Test can be counted as long as PIC as long as it is countersigned.

Have a read - your about to be a commercial pilot after all :ok:

As far as I'm aware no. You need 100PIC before you sit the CPL test. I could be wrong...

No you don't need 100 PIC hours for the CPL skills test, I only had 89. I did my ME/IR first. When you pass the IR and CPL its SPIC, those hours can count towards the 100 PIC hours needed for license issue.

Only if the examiner signed your logbook.

If not no.

Case J applies in the logging of flight time section.

CAA have sent back applications and made people do one or two hours if no signature is present.

the 170A is actualy just a document that the school needs to sign to state that you are up to test standard. its not a flight test. however, some schools require a check flight to be done with a CFI before they are willing to sign the paperwork.

the 170A "check ride" is logged as dual time as its part of the course but the real flight test can be logged as P1 time, as long as you pass and have it signed by the examiner. if you fail, its dual time. if you partial then pass, the partial time is dual and the next filight you pass on is P1 with an examiners autograph.
