Hello guys, I have some questions regarding the English language Levels in Malaysia.
Appreciate your replies.
1) Does your English Language Examiner hold a valid English Language Degree from an approved institution (eg University/College etc)
2) How much are you paying to obtain a minimum level 4 certificate (inclusive of the test)? ( answering this question is optional)
3) How long is the duration of the English Language course (5days/10days etc)
I have talked to a number of student and airline pilots who are not too happy with the way these tests are conducted. If you feel that the methodology can be improved, please PM me. Maybe it's time that some of you need to sit with the Controllers and discuss ways to improve the language over RT.

In South East Asia this whole English Proficiency testing thing has become a farse.

For example in Thailand they have copletely lost the plot and have missed the objectives which were outlined very well by ICAO.

It has become too academic and not focused on FLIGHT SAFETY.

Further, it has become a test of the rater's listening skills rather than the participants speaking skills.

By that I mean if the rater's listening skills are poor then the speaker will get a low grade because the listener could not understand.

I have also observed that the trainers of the interviewers and raters have no aviation experience whatsoever and therefore miss the target completely.

The whole issue needs are far more practical approach
