QR - Training facilities for ditching

Something which I have been thinking about is QR and their ditching training in DXB at Emirates Training College. Wouldn't it be cheaper for QR to build their own training facility in DOH instead of flying crew down on a weekly basis and renting those facilities from EK?

Several months ago, when our class went to firefighting, the instructor said plans were being formulated to build a large facility so they could do the ditching training in Doha. He did not give a time frame.

The day is fun but I was thinking that it would be easier and cheaper for QR to have their own facilities. They have been doing this since when? For over ten years I would imagine! 15 years? Maybe longer!

Rumour has it, we'll have all sorts of training facilities come the NDIA. Ditching also, one presumes...
