As the yound lad that I am, I've tasted mary-jane a couple of times, who hasn't?
No my question is
How common is it for airlines to do a hair test on their new recruits?
I've smoked like 10 times but I decided to stop when I heard about hair tests (stopped in may 2009)
Does any one know how long it stays in the hair?
Any one here who has actually been busted during recruit?
Thanks!

Good reasoning :} Once they abolish the test, you can start again, maybe even in the cockpit. Understandable, these days, when aircraft can fly on their own, it can get pretty boring.

They are airlines not hair lines! If you were lucky enough to be able to land a job with one of them, it would be because you were in part, smartly presented when you attended the interview. This would have involved a hair cut on your part, so it is unlikely your hair would contain whatever forensic evidence you seem to have a phobia of.
Obviously being a "pot head" is not one of the qualities and skills that most employers and particularly airlines, look for in their new recruits, so it is probably wise that at 24 years of age you have chosen to put this recreational activity behind you.
In some countries there are mandatory drug testing protocols for certain occupations. I have no idea what the situation is in Norway, but with your newly shorn hair style and more mature outlook, I am sure you will have little to worry about on this score.

Hmm cannabis can be detected in the hair up to 3 months following your last smoke . It comes from the root not the actual hair so a haircut wont help .
The big question is you are worried about an airline testing you which means you may be in a position to apply for a job . yet you stopped smoking in may 2009 so one could assume you were either flying for fun or at the very least training during that time , and you were still smoking something that affects judgement and slows reaction times .
Not passing judgement but make a choice you cant have both and airline career and a penchant for the odd recreational drug . Well maybe there are some out there who are laughing and saying oh yes you can but thats my ten pennys worth

dcoded,
If you stopped in May and you were not a mega cone head then you're fine. I've never been tested for marijuana.
I would advocate avoiding the stuff in the future though.

Yes, but due to competition from the likes of Ryanair, and generally degrading T&C's, they now have to purchase their own. :E
