Hi

Due to on-going issues with my local flying school that rent me a DA40 G1000.

I am looking to privately hire another DA40 or now consider a share in the South East area. Would also consider A/C types similar to go places.

If anyone knows of any around, please send me a PM

There are plenty of DA40TDIs at Flying Time, Shoreham.
One DA40-180 at Cubair, Redhill.
One DA40TDI at TropAir, Biggin Hill.

Of those, only Flying Time has G1000 equipped ones.

Google will find the relevant web sites.

The DA40 at Cubair, Redhill isn't a G1000, its a clockwork panel. Having said that it does have HSI and slaved compass, so isn't quite so bad. Personally I prefer the -180; having tried both the TDI feels sluggish.

The only reservation with Redhill, and this isn't meant to be a criticism as I pretty much only fly from there (in the above DA40), is that it can get boggy and the grass runways do spend quite a time unavailable during the winter. There is an unlicensed taxiway that can be used when the runways are closed, but that has stringent crosswind limits.

Paul.

Slightly OT, but wasn't there talk of equipping Redhill with a hard runway, did it ever come to anything?

Planning applications for a hard runway at Redhill generally lead to a lot of agitation from the local residents. The last one certainly did.

We have most recently had a planning application to turn the whole site into an equestrian centre (!).

Much as I'd love to see it, I'm not holding my breath for a hard runway there
