Is the direct flight to doha a joke, or is it actually true.

Is Eva gonna resume expat hiring with the 2 747s back

cosmiccomet

I don't think EVA Air or CAL are gonna recruit expats again.

CAL has also stored three B744F in US, but they already returned one to TPE and the other two are coming back in the next months.
Anyway, Expats contracts are not renew to anyone at least for 2009 and according to the rumours no more renewel at all.
Their plan is to have a 100% local pilot force by 2012, from more than 300 expats in 2007 we are at this moment less than 80 and coming down month by month due the not contract renewal.

At this moment, CAL is training the last APQ group, 26 guys, so our replacements are already there.
Captains and Relief Pilots are flying the minimun or above guaranty flight time but FO are flying not more than 60 hrs per month.

For what I heard from EVA Air guys the situation is preaty the same for them.

Same for EVA as cosmiccomet stated for CAL. No new expats, probably ever, they have a ton of cadets waiting to start flying, and another ton in the pipeline waiting for a call out from their job at the 7-Eleven!!

Yes, another year of pay freeze, even though we're making money, hey, if you can do it once, why not do it forever!!!

Yes, perdiem going for turn-around flights. So the paltry $3 an hour we get now is breaking the bank and sending the company to the wall!?!?!

Unfortunately for everyone in both groups, getting rid of expats means getting rid of a backbone. The locals fold like a one dollar bill because the companies have put the fear of god into them and they want to keep their jobs!!

But Captain, you don't understand!!!:ugh::ugh::ugh:

Expect increase in tail strikes/hard touchdowns early 2010 onwards with the chances increasing of occasional (but wearable) hull loss

look forward to have all this news on jacdec.de, aviation herald and aviation safety net, every circus needs clowns and i think taiwan has a lot of potential candidates to make it to the annual monaco circus festival for awards, tailstrikes and and and.......

You sad excuse for a human being! You actually look forward to incidents and and and.... what?? Accidents? We are somebodys sons, fathers, kids...... And a lot of evil wishers are former EVA employees (or maybe just plain and simple evil minded idiots). The same EVA air who gave you 777,747,330 or maybe not so valuable MD11 rating. Most of you moved on to (in your eyes) better things just because of that fact. Yes, EVA has issues but to say you look forward to incidents and accidents is absolutely not right.

dabssa, agree with you 100%. EVA management do have serious issues they really need to address but wishing ill for others, not forgetting the innocent pax is totally out of line. Maybe, EVA must have been blessed to be rid of these blokes with such evil intent. Geeze!:ugh::ugh::ugh:

We all have Jumped on the bandwagon some where in good times.
The question is why were you all there in the first place?
Put on the monkey suit and go through the interview years ago. Ignorance.
This is how the national pilots view the ex-pat. Take and Leave. Period.

Tell me which Airlines does not have a problem? What's the meaning of loss of expats pilots will lead to an increased in tailstrikes or a possible hull loss! Enlighten me on this. Does it mean only people from the west know how to fly an airplane?

What a load of craps! For those that have benefitted the experience of a widebody experience, ratings from 330 to 747, people should be graceful for having this opportunity and without EVA or China, you will still be flying little props.

Grow up guys.:=

In my short experience in China Airlines, I have flown with very good local pilots. As in any company around the world, you can find as:mad: holes and bad pilots.
And for telling the thruth, I have also flown with some expats who were not very good.

About the hard landings, it can happen to anyone at any moment, so it is not good to point out over other pilots hard landings.
It is much better attitude to try to learn from others mistakes.

CAL is not an expat job anymore, but I would not whish an accident or incident for them.

In the other hand, I see CAL's Pilot Union believes that erasing all the expatriates in Taiwan would solve their problems.

It is definitly not nice to wishing any incident....and and and others terrible things to happen to anyone. Especially, to those who you had worked with or even called friends and had gone out together had diner or drink with once, are you really wishing they screw up or even worse things to happend to them!!!??? Where is your airmanship!!!??? Where is your professionalism!!!??? Where is you basic human conscience!!!??? Do you think passengers trust and want a person like you be their pilot? Do your friends, family, parents, wife or even son and daughter know what you are wishing for!!!??? Does your pastor aprove this? YOU MUST APOLOGIZE!

TWNPPL...

Problem is not the expats TWNppl, its the company. CAL and probably EVA. They are not up front about the job. When I went many years ago they were telling us whatever they needed to to get us on property and flying airplanes. "We want to to have a successful career with us, promote to Capt one day, and enjoy living in Taiwan". ... also... "the contract time is just to establish your salary. It will be renewed with a new rate"...and "you will be treated equally .. we treat all employees equally".. and my personal favourite!..... "if you care about us...we care about you". LOL. What a joke!

LIES LIES LIES!

Instead it should go like this:

"This is a temporary job offer for the time specificed at the salary specificed, will incure local taxes, has no pension, no severance benefit, and has very extremely little chance for promotion as we will favour the chinese pilots (unless we are totally desparate), and will come with a heavy bond that you will have to pay if you try to leave".

Do you think it would be easy for CAL/EVA to hire guys if they told the truth?

The problem is your management, and you already know that.

That is why we use it as a stepping stone (take and leave), because as soon as we spend a little time there...(and most of us actually enjoy the time working with you actually), we can see the reality, so we politely do our work and start looking. Then we leave!

You want to have expats that are loyal? Then stop treating them like worthless dogs, and start treating them like colleagues and professionals and equal people, as we treat you in our home country.

Predjudice is alive and well in Formosa!

Don't be a paranoid prick. They don't just deceive expats. Locals get the beatings as well. Just to make the point, in the last few months they have failed many many many locals for pic upgrade. So take your paranoid bs elsewhere. But to a certain extent locals will be looked upon more favorably, but not by much. This is their country afterall. And btw, when I joined they never mentioned upgrading, better money, have a life long career with us... It's take it or leave it.

Dbssa,

You are quite confusing. I have seen some of your posts, and you seem to say its terrible there, but that you like it.

I have no reason to deceive anyone, as I got out when I saw that it was dead end. Contrary to you... I did ask questions in my interview and was blown a bunch of XXXX. What did you do? giggle... and ask what color their airplanes were?
As a result, it was a huge waste of time as there were many other oportunities out there as there still are now. So after seeing that I was lied too...I used the very same business ethic that was applied to me. Looked after no 1.

"to a certain extent locals will be looked upon more favorably, but not by much".

TOTALLY false. There is no hope for expats promotion. 1 in 200 might get it just to keep the other fools inline. Dont let them lead you down this path. If you don't expect it..then you won't be dissapointed. Get the type rating and go...

I don't know what guys like TWNPPL want. They want you to stay down as FO and be a doormat... then they want you to be the first to get fired when things get bad... and then get upset when we pull a runner. Such sore losers.

Anyway Dbssa did get one thing right. its "take it or leave it"...but its also - DEAD END.

Dear guys,

I donīt know if EVA is one of the best places to go or not, but for some of us is gonna be the only oportunity to continue flying in that difficult moments for the industry.

I would hardly appreciatte if instead of discussing you could helps us telling what may we expect on the screening process. And it would also be great to have info about how is live once you move there (rosters, local live, conditions of accomodation, if you really have 8 days off together..)

Thank you very much and good flights!

:ugh: Eva is well known as a company with good safety records, but unfortunately its not a choice, but the last resort... I was approved to fly 747 as F/O a long time ago, but after have met my friends there during the screening I changed my mind in time.
No changes so far, low salaries, license not recognized in many other countries, quite long time to be promoted... And besides that you will live inside the company.
I am sure you dont need to go too low!
