I know I was on leave but I would have thought someone would mention Helitech or at least post some piccies for those who could not attend.

Anyone happy to oblige?

Was it any good?

JTobias included a link to photos and a short write-up in the SW-4 thread (http://www.pprune.org/rotorheads/215373-pzl-sw4.html): see Helitech 2009 (http://jetbox.wordpress.com/2009/09/23/helitech-2009/).

Gary's safety talk was very good :ok: and then some mad woman tried to throw a glass Chardonnay over him :}

I too was waiting to hear what I may have missed.
Flew in on the Tuesday this year; yes usually 'traders' day I agree; the place just was swarming with men in suits.
Did not see much for the ordinary pilot. I did take a good look at the SW-4 but I then took the opportunity to look around the many Duxford aircraft restoration projects.
That was good value anyway.:ok:

I missed his Chardonnay-attack, but indeed he did a great job offering those safety presentations :ok:

Or so I was told. :O

Whirls... perhaps next time, you could offer said person a lesson in the fine art of wine sipping vs. glass tipping. :ok:

Well I'm not sure why they came out so small but the link has been posted above to the rest I took in normal size pics.

Your links were to the thumbnails, instead of the full size photos. I've edited the url's for you :ok:

I've never seen so many helicopters in the static park, most for sale apparently. Very neat glass cockpit R44 and lots more developments in map displays around the show.
I went to the HCGB Safety Seminar presented by Dick Sanford. A timely reminder of the things that can, and sadly regularly do, kill helicopter pilots. Must have been nearly a hundred people there.

I've never seen so many aircraft in the static park either. It was jammed. I came across at least two places early on the Tuesday when Bod A was standing at the TR winding very slowly while Bod B was calling out the distance between a blade tip and the mast on the a/c next to it.

One exhibitor I spoke to said the organisers had told the exhibitors to land hundreds of yards away and then push the aircraft into the static park - sorry, was this PlankTech 2009?

The suits to pilot ratio certainly was high, and even more so this year, it felt like there were quite a few spotters. It's not a pilots' event. But one should not be too judgemental; I came across one chap leaning against the door of a 500E snapping away and asked if he'd like it. He said 'I have one'.

:}
I was there every day from Sunday to Friday. I was the fat muppet in the visi-vest that told you where to park! (104 visiting on Wednesday, apparently an all time record!)

I also organised most of the 49 aircraft inside the static display, another record, which really could not have been done without Tony from TLC Helilift or Grumpy Bob and his tractor from Duxford!

It took a total of 14 hours to get everything in place in the static park, and only three hours to get them all out safely again. Many many more wheeled Heli's this year.

I was particularly proud of the Agusta Westland line up of 2 x AW 139's, an AW119 and a A109 DaVinci, all perfectly in line and overlapping like you wouldn't believe.

Just looking forward to Helitech Portugal 2010!
(Hilico I was probably Bod A!) :ok:

...and what happened to Ned ? His booth space was taken by someone else and no mags being distributed...Is this why Vertical (who were there) has announced their own Australasian edition ?

Shell Aircraft are going to be well represented at Heltech and the preceeding International Helicopter Safety Symposium.

Buy them a drink and they will tell you all about secrets to accident reduction!

SM, you clearly don't actually work for Shell - or are just unaware of your own policies.......

Shell forbids employees to solicit for gifts or hospitality and should in general not accept any gifts and/ or hospitality from a third party.
