Hi,

I am trying to get hold of Cessna 404 Titan opertaing notes, a copy of a flight manual or just general ground school type information about the aircraft. Anything at all really....

Did Flight Safety International ever produce training notes on the 404? Anyone know where I can get a copy?!

PM me or post. Thanks!

Try going to the Teledyne-Continental website for some engine info.I think you'll find that the C404 uses a "GTSIO-520-M" :ok:

Flight Safety did produce a manual for the C404...
Not sure where you'd get one from though.

Did they tell you why the engines were geared, by any chance?

To slow the props down & make them work more efficiently.

Yup, they had to spin the engine pretty quick to get the ponies out of them (375). Can't have a big prop going over 3300rpm!!

Spinning them slower also makes them quieter. Also why the engines were spaced further out than most other 400 types, which unfortunately, also results in a greater yawing moment asymmetrically.:ok:

By far the greatest cabin class piston twin to fly the skies!!!!!!

And that my friends is un-disputable:ok:

Loved my time (3000H+) on the mighty Titan. Did several Flight Safety courses over the years and pretty sure I have their complete endorsement manual in a box somewhere. PM me with your contact details- and I'll ship it to you at cost (provided of course I can find the darned thing).

Yes they're good payload carriers. But they don't displace my feelings for the handling of A65-8200 or 70 QueenAirs. 'Bird.

Great aircraft but better mated to a PT6A then the old geared motor, extra 40 kts and can actually be fully loaded, and the fun you can have with it, just puts a smile on your face.

Then they put Garretts on it, called it a Conquest 2 and made the ultimate single pilot aeroplane, a real Kingair killer :ok:

Here, here max weight in a c441 straight to FL310, was even better with the TPE331-10's, TAS of 300kts

HAHA, yeah would be a awesome machine would love to get my hands on the C441 but after flying the Jetstream give me a PT6 any day.

They also put PT6's on em and called them a conquest. much quieter than the screaming Garret version. :E
CASA became the Conquest killer. whack an Australian only AD on them and canned em all at 22500 hours. broke a few companies in the process.

Maybe so, but it originally was called a Corsair until being renamed the Conquest 1. It's basically a 402 with the Conquest 2 being a 404.

The Garrett version ate it for Breakfast. They may make more noise, but they do it while they overtake the PT6 powered machine using less fuel :}

If my memory serves me correctly the original type designation for the Corsairs was C425's.

The 404 with PT6's is a F406, built by Reims.
The 425 (Corsair/Conquest I) is a 421 with PT6's

Hi there,

I am trying to locate some training material on the C404 and can't seem to find anything online or through the grapevine..

Does anyone know where I can find a POH/AFM? Or a training manual? That would be free to download.

Opinions/ideas are all appreciated. :)

Cheers,
M
