View Full Version : London - midweek?
Flypuppy 9th Sep 2009, 21:51 Anyone fancy a beer, a curry and then throw something at the person on the plinth?
It would have to be midweek (for me), and either LHR or central London. Anyone want to have a bashette?
redsnail 10th Sep 2009, 16:00 I'm good for Wed Oct 21. (and after) (Off to Oz in the meantime) :ok:
ThreadBaron 10th Sep 2009, 19:41 Moi aussi
For the less than cunning linguists out there, that does not men I am an antip!!!
I'm with reddo ... just not in Oz.
Flypuppy 10th Sep 2009, 20:18 OK, so shall we make it the 21st of October then?
Where shall we meet, Central London or LHR?
ThreadBaron 11th Sep 2009, 19:32 Lowlander, Covent Garden is my first choice.
Flypuppy 11th Sep 2009, 20:04 Should I bring my bagpipes...?
(No answer required I will leave them at home)
redsnail 11th Sep 2009, 22:10 I'm good for central London. Only probs with Lowlander is the err crowding...
Union Jack 11th Sep 2009, 22:14 21 October is Trafalgar Night so don't forget to raise a glass to the Immortal Memory of Lord Nelson!:ok:
Jack
ThreadBaron 12th Sep 2009, 09:10 Wednesday night at the Lowlander should not be too bad. However, anywhere will suit me fine.:ok:
johnfairr 15th Sep 2009, 10:37 I could probably drag my weary bones along on the 21st. A few beers sounds about right - not sure how the curry will impress my fellow commuters back on the old rattler afterwards, though. :\
ThreadBaron 16th Sep 2009, 20:01 I'll contact Drinkmobility if you like, John?
Eric T Cartman and I are in London - staying on Bayswater Road next week - 22 -26 September if anyone would care to join us for a cup of tea somewhere :hmm: We could perhaps arrange to find a teashop? Angels might be able to suggest one?
OzExpat 18th Sep 2009, 13:38 Dunno about serving tea, but the Cheshire Cheese isn't far away on the "old rattler". :ok:
Flypuppy 20th Sep 2009, 09:34 Cleo,
Would a curry on Wednesday evening be a suitable diversion from tea?
OzEx - its been a long time mate, when are you next north of the equator?
CarltonBrowne the FO 20th Sep 2009, 11:24 I'm in Tblisi that night so I can't make it- I would like to offer an alternative to throwing things at the occupant of the 4th plinth though.
Radio controlled aeroplanes are fairly cheap and easy to acquire nowadays- anyone up for a low-budget remake of King Kong? Someone please take a camera... :E
Hmmm I can probably cope with that :p
Do you have a particular Taj in mind?
Mobile is 07970 559863
OzExpat 21st Sep 2009, 11:37 Ahhh... so many names on the thread from so long ago, yet the memory is as fresh as if it were yesterday! How ya going Pups? Wish I could say "tomorrow" but it isn't likely to be very soon. I'm always hopeful though! :ok:
I haven't seen CB the FO is a while either and, as for Reddo, well the last time would've been 2006. Guess I'm in the wrong part of Oz for her atm. :(
Flypuppy 21st Sep 2009, 20:31 Ozex,
Life has had a few up and downs this year, but I am surviving so far.
Shame you can't make it to the UK for your pilgrimage to Whitley Bay, but when you can next get over here be sure to let us know! We will need to warn the breweries to increase production...
:ok:
Flintstone 22nd Sep 2009, 21:39 Might be able to make this. Also have two RC helicopters with which to taunt the person on the plinth :E
OzExpat 23rd Sep 2009, 08:13 For sure Pups, the PMs will fly well in advance. Don't much care about the breweries, as long as there's a generous over-supply of G/T! :ok:
enicalyth 28th Sep 2009, 14:24 Possibility that the "E" can be there. Where is there? Post code or lat/long.
ThreadBaron 28th Sep 2009, 19:24 OK! The E has focussed our minds for us. We all want to be there ... but we have not decided where there should be. Any offers other than my own previously and, of course,E's???
E
51N 7W will have to do for now!:ok:
Flypuppy 28th Sep 2009, 22:05 Just a suggestion:
Albannach
66 Trafalgar Square,
London, WC2N 5DS
or
Dion
52-56 Leadenhall Street,
London EC3A 2BJ
Any other suggestions?
ThreadBaron 29th Sep 2009, 06:49 Albannach - has an excellent selection of malts and the menu looks good.:D
Snigs 30th Sep 2009, 12:52 Hmmm, I'm on a day off on the 21st
I'll have to have a chat with the ball and chain!
Flypuppy 30th Sep 2009, 16:04 Snigs,
It would be good to see you again, just tell the missus you have some training or something like that, I am sure she would believe you....
Wonder if we can round up some more of the infamous Ash Bash bods?
ThreadBaron 30th Sep 2009, 18:45 C'mon peeps. Where???? 21 Oct will have come and gone before we have a consensus.
Perhaps we can ID an IP and move from there on the night.
Flypuppy 30th Sep 2009, 22:22 Dion is handy for the City and a short walk from Bank underground.
Albanach is about as central as is possible....
Any other suggestions?
ThreadBaron 7th Oct 2009, 07:29 flypup
You and me, Albannach, 1900 Wed 21 Oct?
reddo When you get back from the 'trip', let us know if you if you have had any other location ideas.:ok:
Flypuppy 7th Oct 2009, 10:48 Well, that looks pretty definitive then.
Wednesday 21st of October 2009.
Albannach
66 Trafalgar Square.
Closer to the time, if you are coming send me a PM and we can come up with some sort of coordination tactics.
OzExpat 7th Oct 2009, 12:55 21st of October!
That's a date I won't soon forget coz it's the settlement date for Casa de OzExpat in FNQ. I'll be joining you all in spirits! :ok:
redsnail 7th Oct 2009, 18:58 Flypuppy,
Sounds good. :ok:
Threaders, that'll do me. I'm jet lagged and incapable of cognitive thought. :\
ThreadBaron 7th Oct 2009, 20:52 But someway, somehow you spelt 'cognitive' correctly.:ok:
johnfairr 9th Oct 2009, 07:54 If I can find this place, I'll probably be there for a few, before 6, so I can get a feel for the place . . . . . . :E
Flypuppy 9th Oct 2009, 19:26 Albannach is easy to find. If you can find Trafalgar Square, it wont take much to find the restaurant.
BTW, it is happy hour in Albannach between 1900 and 2100....
johnfairr 17th Oct 2009, 19:52 Chaps, (and Cap'n Reddo),
Sadly, the powers that be have decided that this coming week I shall ply my trade in Liverpool, as opposed to last week, when I was merely the length of The Strand away from your meeting place.
I'll try and make contact during the Bash, but if not, have a great evening!
66 Trafalgar Square, Westminster, London SW1A 2, UK - Google Maps (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=66+Trafalgar+Square,+Westminster,+London+SW1A+2,+UK&sll=51.50729,-0.12799&sspn=0.005716,0.018947&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=66+Trafalgar+Square,+Westminster,+London+SW1A+2,+United+Kingdom&ll=51.507811,-0.128826&spn=0.001513,0.004737&z=18&iwloc=A&layer=c&cbll=51.507458,-0.128813&panoid=I0Kx9S7CUoXEoj9Ev06tuw&cbp=12,173.38,,0,-8.15)
Oh, Poo!
Sorry chaps, a higher authority has just called me in, for work!
See you at the next one,
Bond.
Flypuppy 21st Oct 2009, 09:01 Who is going to be there tonight. I should be easy to recognise as I will probably be wearing my motorcycle togs - if they let me in that is....
ThreadBaron 21st Oct 2009, 10:47 Me!:ok: ... but dressed in less provocative attire.
redsnail 21st Oct 2009, 11:48 Me, not wearing biker gear. Mobile phone's the same. :ok:
OzExpat 25th Oct 2009, 05:06 4 days since this bash and still no report?
Must've been a REALLY good night with everyone still trying to recover! :}
Flypuppy 27th Oct 2009, 14:07 Oz,
It was a nice quite night where some friends were reacquainted after far too long.
A pleasant time was had by all. Being a Wednesday, it meant that drunkenness and ribaldry was kept to an absolute minimum.
OzExpat 28th Oct 2009, 11:42 William Wallace must be rolling in his numerous graves, Pups! Seems to me that we need another BIG bash!
Still... glad that everyone was able to catch up with everyone else and have a good time on a mid-week night. I'm still looking for a lottery win to get back there for a Friday night and Saturday night. :} :ok:
