Can any one tell me about the 406 driver who passed out in-flight recently in Tanzania?

You mean the Peugeot 406 crash with a hiipopotamus on the Dodoma/Mbeya road two nights ago? I do not know what happened to the animal. But the story is that the driver is missing, possibly eaten.

I heard that from someone fresh from East Africa.

Apparently it is true. The pil who passed out is a Swedish old boy of 60+
who was sick, and refused to admit that he was sick.:confused:

wonder what was he trying to prove? Or may be was intent on committing suicide... given a cold shoulder by his girlfriend, perhaps.:ugh:

I heard 2 weeks ago about a precision air captain that was incapacitated in flight and the F/O had no idea how to land the plane. Apparently another aircraft was sent up to guide them down. Don't know if there is any truth in that.:eek:

I don't know skytango i just heard about it. It might have even happened but like Jocky, I heard about from someone in East Africa. Was wondering if anyone else had heard about this.

The F/O was very experienced no problem in landing the aircraft. The only problem came when he was on ground and he needed to taxi onto the apron in Mwanza which is pretty tight for the 72 so another Captain who was on ground in Mwanza came aboard to steer the tiller whilst the F/O continued the taxi. Captain is now back online, minor surgery needed with some recovery time, was result of a back problem from those damn awfull ATR seats, I hear a lot of 777 pilots get back problems, seems boeing cut costs on their design.

Thanks SBC. I got my info from Greek CNN, glad to hear that the case was very different to the version i got. The 777 seats are terrible in my opinion. The C404 seat was alot more comfortable but the difference is I can get up and stretch my legs in a 777 and get some feeling back in my a$$. Alternativly i get a pillow to sit on. Some rumour going around is that the seat is uncomfortable so flight crew don't fall asleep but i think commercial considerations are probably the real reason. Seems ATR have the same issues.
