XL319,

During a recent brush up I stayed in the white cottage as mentioned above for 2 nights and in a pub called The Swan for the other 3 nights.

For The Swan, think it was about £30 a night, rooms basic but a full english breakfast included every morning, friendly staff also good menu for dinner or having a drink later on, beer garden, pool table etc :ok: perfect after a hard days studying!

Euro Hostels City Centre Hostel in Glasgow Edinburgh Newcastle (http://www.euro-hostels.co.uk/)

This could be a good shout for you. I'm sure they have private rooms & it's only a five minute walk from the Nautical College.

Yo, I've been there three times. Small rooms, internet access, TV in the room - You will survive.

I think they stopped serving full cocked breakfast, Better check if essential.
