I hope to cross between between Orlando,Fl and LA,Ca next month and could do with some help on the best route to take.

Thanks.

There's a reason El Paso, Texas is called El Paso. Every other route will take another 3000 to 5000 feet to clear.

Not *quite* sure how to read this - but whilst "advice" is good, the point of the so called 'hour building' is for you to make the decisions and learn from it. Get command experience.

Obviously (hopefully) from a flight safety aspect you don't try to cross the mountains at their highest point unless you have the correct weather, aircraft, experience - but from the commerical point of view, you don't follow the coastlines with a GPS as primary nav aid to make it easy.

With web materials such as www.skyvector.com (http://www.skyvector.com) and www.airnav.com (http://www.airnav.com) you should be able to research MOST of it yourself.

Apologies if I read your thread the wrong way.
