The situation is pretty complex. Basically Juneyao (a shanghai company and airline) took control of Okay airways about 6 months ago. This led to the old Okay management and new Juneyao managers having a power struggle. Yes salaries have been paid late (about 10 days every month) but this delay was in part to the old Okay managers delaying the payment and basically trying to bleed the company dry before they were replaced. The pilots who resigned actually all took holiday approved by an old Okay manager. This caused a number of flights to be cancelled before Juneyao were able to get some crew on loan from another Chinese airline. It was obvious that group of pilots (every one in the ex-military gang) tried to bring the company down. (they would then be free pilots and could get large signing on bonuses from Chinese airlines – up to 2 million RMB) When this failed they refused to fly for sickness reasons and other excuses. So Juneyao said they would only get basic pay and now they have resigned. However a Chinese person can not just resign from a Chinese airline so it will be interesting to see what happens in the future regarding them.
