local knowledge please!
arriving at Perth 00.30 - need a cheap-ish hotel nearby just for what's left of the night, preferably with its own shuttle bus, any ideas?

Anywhere along Great Eastern Highway is close, realistically even the hotels in the city are close. Depending on traffic and time of day it's a twenty minute journey from the city to the airport.

This is all assuming you are travelling domestically. If so, allow the largest part of your time for check in and security at the severely under resourced airport.

I usually stay at the Marracoonda Perth Airport Motel if I have a short stopover. They provide a free shuttle service to and from both the domestic and international terminals any hour of the day or night. Both terminals have a courtesy phone downstairs. Give them a call when you arrive and they will pick you up. The reception is open 24 hours as well. Number is 08- 92777777 Not sure of the current room rate.

Marracoonda has the best service, but if n/a, then the Bel Eyre (08) 9277 2733, just about 2kms further into the city, also has a shuttle service.
