Afternoon all,
Have been doing this low level lark for a long time now and rarely venture outside Scotland to do so!
So after five years you can imagine I have a fair amount of pictures not that you would go by todays low level traffic....Does anyone remember where the Moffat is?
I have, despite the lack of traffice these days had some marvelous days, however many, many more quieter days with nothing....either way its worthwhile just for some good old Scottish fresh air!
Anyway, in no particular order from various locations within 'The Moffat';

Awesome photos! Now I'm flying a desk for 2 years, it's heart warming to see such fantastic shots of the mighty GR4 bringing back happy memories of flying down the Moffat Valley! Thanks!

Are my eyes deceiving me or is the Danish F-16 pilot 'stowing' his keks etc in the very rear part of his canopy (photo 31) ? There does seem to be a jumble of textile-like stuffed back there.....

Btw, great photos, especially the Tonka over the snowy munroes, very evocative :ok:

Bit of history on pic #8,the Gazelle XW846; It started as a trials a/c,and I first flew it in Jan `76 at AAEE. Did performance,handling,Nitesun,para-drop and free-fall trials, spent the winter of `76 in Canada doing snow and icing trials, skis, lots of `manual -forces` in icing and snow and combinations;then back for more comparative performance,I/R,and EOLs. My last Gazelle trip was in `846`,23 Dec `76,so it`s nice to see her still flying(or whenever the piccy was taken)..Thanks,Syc..

Spring-Jack - You might be surprised what you can cram into the various nooks and crannys in a cockpit on the Overseas Training Flight, Cross Country...etc..

....Moffateer, the dates of the pics might help those who actually flew the flights...(just an idea) - Nice WOrk..:ok:

Evening Gentleman,

Just wanted to say a quick thanks for all the comments. I appreciate you taking time to comment so thank you!

30mRad - Well, be sure to let me know when you are enjoying the Moffat again!

Stuff, nearly wet myself when I read your caption to No.22 - Quality!

Cornish-Stormrider, tut, tut - Hope you didn't get into too much bother from the Guv!

SpringheeledJack, Yes, the pilot informs me that the F16 doesnt have a great deal of storage space so they fill a bag of personals - jacket, a pair of pants, a shirt and clean underwear! What more could you need!!!

Nutloose, Thanks so much for the heads up! Maybe need to see if I can make a few enquiries....:ok:

Finally, Sycamore - Great to hear some of your recollections with XW846. I fortunately picked the narrowest point of the valley that day....The shot was taken summer 2007, where it was living in Aldergrove!

Once again, Thank You all so much - Hope you all have a great weekend!

Warmest regards from Scotland,

Andy

The F3 wings swept back punching its way over the snow covered hills was my favourite too. Brings to mind many cold days in the hills courtesy of Kinloss MRT. Just to be a bit pedantinc though, there aren't any Munros in the Borders, nearest are probably Perthshire, a few miles North, or Argyll to the North West. The road in the shot looks like the Edinburgh/Abingdon road, past a local spot known as the Devil's Beeftub (another story!).

Nonetheless, great pics StoM and thanks for sharing. Quick question, where were the ones over water taken?
