"Hercules to airlift Gorgon materials Chris Thomson
August 17, 2009 - 9:33AM

A civilian variant of the leviathan Hercules aircraft will be employed to airlift building materials to Chevron's massive Gorgon gas project off Barrow Island in Western Australia's north.

Newly formed company Stallion Aviation has asked the Shire of Roebourne to let it fly a Lockheed 382 aircraft, the civilian version of the C-130 Hercules, from Karratha Airport to Barrow Island from December this year."

Now THAT is a 'BIG 206'.........

Gotta LUV the name.........:ok::ok:

Always wanted to fly the Herc. Was most envious of the Cargomasters boys during that short-lived operation.

Pick me!

It will certainly do the job.

Chevron used the L382's for the Moro project out of Nadzab, PNG. They worked like a charm and the project was a success.

I wonder if the Barrow Island runway will stand up to a sustained C130 type ops. With a PCN of 15 they are going to be fairly limited in the AUW.
