On Boeings, can anyone tell me if the whole central overhead instrument panel swings down into the flight deck to allow access behind for maintenance?

If anyone has any pictures or diagrams they could share that would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

Yes.

I seems my message is too short.

One word answer is good enough for me, thanks.

Good enough for you, but not for the computer.
Screws,(Well, fasteners actually,) at the bottom
of the panel as I recall. Or was it the top???

On 747's the overhead instrument panel (P5) individual modules can all be removed by releasing the quarter turn fasteners same as for the pedestal modules.
The overhead circuit breaker panels hinge down.
There are dripshields behind the panels so accessing structure is still not easy.
Don't know about other Boeing's.

Fasteners at the bottom outboard corners and hinges at the top with a strap to prevent the whole thing from smacking the pilots in the head if it came loose. At least on the 727 and 747 classic. I can't find my -400 panels so I can't say if it's the same.

ON the 737 it isnīt a strap, it is a little hook. You find the release of the hook between the ATTEND- and the GRD-CALL button.
