I have heard India, China and Russia have age restrictions on aircraft coming into their country. Can anyone tell me or point me where I can read up on these?

What about other countries?

Generally aging aircraft are limited by the manufacturer and local aviation administrations. These limitations are most usually based on noise production (by country) and structual expectations (by manufaturer). I have not heard of any general age limitations (especially Russia given the age of the aircraft they operate).

China is in the works of producing their own aircraft but the production and delivery of these aircraft is not in the near future. In the E.U. Airbus has driven CAT4 noise abatement limiting the usage of older Boeing and MDC aircraft operations.

What you have heard does not hold weight in my oppinion in the global market W/O further detail.

I guess you are not talking about the manufacturer limitations. India has for sure an age limit for aircraft issued to be observed for import. My memory calls up 15 years.
As far as I remember, this limit applies also for wet-leased aircraft.

Cannot comment about China or Russia.

Having been involved with wet-leasing contracts, several countries not least third world ones have implemented such rules to prevent them being receivers of antique equipment as end users.
I have seen the number 15 years frequently and 18 years on some occasions as well.

I understand that you are talking about importing requirement,issued by national authority for aging aircraft.Actually,in some contries like India,China and Indonesia,there is limitation for used aircraft in accordance with its age.Aging aircraft is allowed to operated only if it is satisfied many additional maintenance,inspection and record keeping requirements in order to maintain its structure integrity and safe condition.
This information is not confidental but very difficult to find.In my opinion,you can find it in national regulation or ask national authority directly.
If you have something esle or better direction,please share it.

Age restrictions on aircraft is different for countries. I dont think 15 yrs to 18 yrs is the limit . The aircraft age is actually measured by ycles. Usually this means the number of take offs and landings it makes. Some airlines have very high utilzations rate. Which means they may be only 10yrs old but may may have done lots of cyclles.

According to Boeing and Airbus their aircraft are built for a 20 year service life. Provided it is utilized normally. Some airlines airlines prefer to have a young fleet. Singapore Airlines keep aircraft only for 15 years.

I dont think any nation would ban aircraft that are ove18 yrs old. how ever i think they many restrict aircraft that are over 20 yrs old.

Why would a country ban a 20 year old 747 with 15,000 cycles and 90,000 flight hours. But admit a 10 year old A310 with 28,000 cycles and 60,000 flight hours?

Do you know any limitation/restriction for large aging aircraft in Bolivia and Nigeria?
