I am trying to store the image from the Brussels bash on line and I would not mind either to store some personal documents on line as well to have access through the internet.

I am looking for a free site and I am not concerned about privacy issues to a hugh extend. Based on your opoinion which is the best service/ site?

I am unaware of any free commerical sites

I don't know who your ISP is, Blueyonder now Virgin Media offered all its users a website. While I do have a small website I use most of the space to store files, these can be accessed using FTP anywhere in the world.

Your ISP may well have an Anonymous FTP, these are usually password protected but not very secure.

Your first port of call should be your ISP.

For image saving and sharing you should try Photobucket......
Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket (http://photobucket.com/)

Or you can use Dropbox for 2 gig of free storage that syncs with all your computers and phone. This holds all file types....
Dropbox - Home - Secure backup, sync and sharing made easy. (http://www.getdropbox.com/)

You can store as many photo's as you like on Photobucket... I love the ease of Dropbox. If you need more space than the free offer you can upgrade...

I used Dropbox on someone's recommendation here (getting a shedload of photos from a Christening bash in Redruth from there to here).

It works perfectly but I'm still not sure of the technology behind it.

When I turn this machine on, if my nephew in Cornwall has uploaded anything new, my pc instantly synchs with the Dropbox website and downloads it to the Dropbox folder here

Does it work off of ip address or what?
I think the easiest way to explain is to consider it similar to email. The app you have on your computer logs into your account with your user name and password and syncs the documents etc in the Dropbox. which are held on the Dropbox server.
Someone else will probably have a better explanation....Like you, I just know it works very well. There is an IPhone app for it. I find it very good for quickly syncing/storing docs on the run. For Photographs I use either Photobucket, for odd pictures or Picasa (probably the best way and integrated into your computer) for whole albums. All free of course with the added bonus of being able to link to them so others can see/download them.:ok:

Dropbox is good, and includes public photo and document sharing (by URL). There's also Google's services: Picasa for the pictures, Google Docs for documents.
