Provost over Plymouth

Hope you can help me fellow Ppruners.

Saw what looked like a Percival Provost at 10:45 this morning descending westward and throttling back over Plymouth Sound. Aircraft was silver in colour with yellow bands around the rear fuselage.

Can anyone confirm this or should I go to Specsavers?:sad:

I've seen several Provosts at various aerodromes in the last couple of years. Here's a snap I took at North Weald a couple of years back:

Most notable ones I ever saw were three Burmese Air Force ones at Croydon in 1958!

There was a mail yesterday saying one was due in Culdrose for their Air Day. Can't imagine theres too many flying on any given day.

There goes the Provost again, almost a year to the day. West bound, I guess it's on its way to the Culdrose show.

With history repeating itself so accurately I'm going to checkout the lottery website for the numbers that won one year ago this Saturday.

On both occasions: G-MOOS en-route to CU Air Day.

You may also have seen a Wasp heading the same way earlier that day, and a T-6 Texan and Skyraider the day after, all returning on the Thursday. :ok:

I didn't see the aircraft you list but the sound of Leonides took me out into the garden to spot a Pembroke west bound followed slowly, (very slowly), by what looked like a Sopwith Camel.:eek:

Are we referring to Jet Provosts or real ones? My second ever flight as an ATC cadet was in a Piston Provost at Little Rissngton; I never wanted to fly in a Chipmunk after that.
I remember when No 1 SoTT at Halton was closing down in the '90s, the JPs were all disposed of and people were coming in for weeks to dismantle them and truck them away, must've been about 20 of them. Wonder how many actually flew again.
