View Full Version : Pay cuts at Network?

I heard recently that Network jet drivers have had their pay cut by 10% due lack of work. Apparently they had up to 7 crew for two aircraft at one stage and they were lucky to fly one day a week! It was either that or redundancies. It would seem things are not yet on the mend in perth...

Heard the same thing from a good source....it's only the beginning!

Their Jets certainly do a lot of ground time.

Hard times everywhere, not just Perth..

One has to wonder why administration aren't asked to wear some of the pain, after the last lot of retrenchments it seems that as always the pilots are the ones once again being shafted. I'm sure the engineers may not have taken a 10% pay cut so quitely, don't get me wrong ginger beers but surely there are specialist Jet engineers that would be not working quite as hard while the jets are sitting around. MMMM Network something is a bit on the nose!!!!!!!!!!!

one of their jets has been parked at perth since it was delivered a year ago...but sure things will bounce back in 12 month or so...

topend3, that aircraft was purchased to just sit there and be pillaged for parts. It was cheaper to buy the aircraft then in was to purchase sufficient spare parts for the store.

Only a rumour of course, but I don't believe the engineers are immune this time around.

Someone better tell the company to stop importing engineers from Germany then. They have been advertising for eternity and still are.

Flokkered, Why have you posted the same job three times?

Wouldn't "purchasing an aircraft for spares" be false economy? Unless you could verify all the component life cycles, and place them into a spares inventory with some guarantee of return, it would appear to be a massive gamble, wouldn't it??

I would suggest that it could be a good move considering the cost of parts of these machines, as well as shocking lead times. Also consider the NEW cost vs a REFURBISHED component, plus you have to send yours away.

Voila, instant inventory and components for refurbishment if they're expired.

Nothing worse having widget X fail with a 22 week lead time and $$$$ to get it, especially with the aircraft stranded at site.
