Shamelessly pinched from Mick.B's thread in Dunnunda, I thought some here might like to have a gander.

Sweet restoration.

As those who flew it used to say: "The last of the true sports cars."

I remember in the 60s, during Confrontation, a flight of 3 RAAF Sabres arrived at Tengah to 'reinforce us'.

It was a Sunday and there had just been a storm. Two Sabres took the crash barrier and the other ended up in a monsoon drain on the side of the runway.

Needless to say just about everybody from Ops to Workshops were called out to get these aircraft off the runway.

They obviously weren't seriously damaged but anything like that happening to such a beautiful aircraft is such a pity.

Lovely to see one flying again.

Being pushed along by an R/R Avon probably the best version of the Sabre ever made. Canuks will argue.

The F.86A at Duxford is the worlds oldest flying jet aircraft. It MAY be going to the US after this season, as they feel they are not getting enough bookings for it. It will be a great loss, have seen many superb displays by Sir Cliff Spink and Mark Linney there and elsewhere, and, of course, also by the incomparable Mark Hanna.
This aircraft was flown by the late great General Robin Olds when in service.

Back in confrontation days, we were flying our Victor B1A in some joint AD exercise. Cruise climbing to well in excess of 50k (bit naughty!), we were intercepted by a pair of Sabres out of Butterworth. They joned on each wingtip and then, to our amazement, climbed away in a series of slow rolls. Super performance....
