Try Bay Flight in Tauranga or Waikato aero club in Hamilton, both places have good reputations.

The list of NMIT Associated Aviation Providers:

Associated Aviation Providers - NMIT (http://www.nmit.ac.nz/schools/aviation/aviationpilottraining/associatedaviationproviders.aspx)

Other than the outfits on that list, the only other places I know of is Massey (http://aviation.massey.ac.nz/) in Palmerston North and Southern Wings (http://www.southernwings.co.nz/) down in Invercargill

Can't comment on the quality of any of them first hand...

Hi, this is my first post - i've been lurking here for a while, learning...

I am wanting to begin my training also and would like to know if there are any other student loan options in or around Auckland other than Ardmore.
Any advice would be appreciated.

There's nowhere else in Auckland that does student loans.

Next closest place is either Waikato Aero club or CTC in Hamilton.

All the student loan schools are listed on page 3 here (http://nmit.ac.nz/_FutureStudent/documents/Diploma%20in%20Aviation%20Science%202008.pdf)

Are Australians eligible for student loans in New Zealand?

Technically yes, but you would have to become a citizen first.

Aussies are elegible for Student Loans and Allowance by virtue of being NZ permanent residents. We have a bunch at the place I'm working.

unfortunately though, on return to aussie, you will be charged interest though, and have to contribute 10% of your gross income over $19k. if you are earning $30k, you will not keep up with the interest loadings, let alone pay off your loan.

Apparently Eagle Fight Training in Ardmore is Student Loan approved - can anyone confirm this?

why don't you ring them and ask for yourself, since you are in Auckland.

LOL, well said 6080.

Kapiti Air Academy in Paraparaumu do it as well, but my advice would be to steer well clear of them. :hmm:

Would they be the ones who charge new 'C' Cat's for the 'privledge' of doing an 'Internship' (i.e. getting out of direct supervision)?

They certainly would be, amongst other things.

Run by an "old boys' network". :ugh:

"Whats right with Ardmore?"

Fair comment, when I instructed in helis there a few years ago there seemed to be a constant problem with slabwings flying through the helicopter circuit while joining. :hmm:
