A lot of you may be thinking of joining indigo. This is to bring to your attention the real story inside indigo.
The news is that after a very senior TRI had left indigo recently, another very senior check pilot at Mumbai has resigned due to the apathetic attitude of the senior guys there who are playing their own game.
They, specially head of trg, are busy promoting their own cronies – recently two old fogies ex-sahara have been inducted. These guys were not even qualified on type and are now being pushed ahead of the present lot of pilots who have been with the company for the last so many years – some since inception.
The fact is that indigo does not believe in progressing its own guys and constantly keeps looking for people outside. See the statistics – only two pilots have been made instructors in the last three years and these guys too happen to be blue eyed boys of the flt ops mgmt. For the last one year, no new check pilot has been added. The head of trg manages to find faults with each and every one – sometimes he does not like their face sometimes their attitude and most of the time he is not able to find a FID!!! This when we now have fifteen FIDs who have beeen carrying out surveillance checks too but head of trg cannot find even one. As for command upgrades – the less said the better – there have been more guys who have not made it as compared to the guys who have managed to make it. Doesnt he have some targets/key areas? Shouldn’t the mgmt be asking him what has he been doing? Earlier there was this racket, which is elsewhere mentioned on this site, regarding the kickbacks these guys were receiving from the chief pilot for each expat captain by ensuring that no internal candidate upgrades to command.
That is another story. Indigo has a chief pilot who is not even qualified on type and the best part is he has made no attempt to qualify on type since joining. Isn’t that strange? Shouldn’t DGCA be looking into this – how can a company continue with a chief pilot not qualified on type. What is he there for? The fact is he is a “Dalla” roughly translating into PIMP.
It is strange that company keeps looking outside to fill its vacancies but there has NOT BEEN A SINGLE PROMOTION in flt ops in the last three years and as for upgrades – you have already seen what is the state. Of course there has not been a single paisa increase in salaries FOR THE LAST THREE YEARS and no bonus for the flt ops guys – this is WHEN EVERY OTHER EMPLOYEE OF THE COMPANY HAS BEEN GIVEN BONUS and a whole lot of them have been given increments and promotions. Two years back company had sought volunteers to upgrade to fleet captain positions but after pilots applied the whole process was scrapped because the flt ops mgmt was not happy with the background of the applicants – mainly military, EVEN THOUGH THE APPLICANTS NOT ONLY MET BUT FAR EXCEEDED THE REQUIREMENTS. It is actually a plot to cut the backbone of the company and induct their own friends and cronies by the backdoor. That is why the seniority list has been lost somewhere and has not been updated for ages. The fact is that the reputation of on time performance and discipline of indigo was primarily due to the military pilots and the expats who formed the bulk of captains of indigo. Now that it is established, the flt ops mgmt are working on a strategy of removing these very guys and bringing in their own cronies through the back door. There has been a concentrated effort to NOT induct any ex-military pilot for the last one year. If you want any further proof, see the ads that indigo has placed.:ugh:
It seems a new fleet captain (technical) is being appointed from outside without giving any opportunity to the existing guys to get promoted to this position. This guy is from jet followed by kingfisher and has less than 1000 hrs on type. The fact is that there are many guys with the company who have more experience than him on type, more time with the company and similar or better qualifications than him. Than why this fascination for outsiders? “GHAR KI MURGI DAL BARABAR”
