I seem to be caught in a little time warp here, but my mate Tony in NZ has come across a bunch of F27-200 series models registered VH-Mike Mike Victor. Ansett red and black livery of course.
I have one of his TN F27 models - TQN and it is magnificent. 13" long and solid. Four others have been delivered very well packed into Aussie and unfortunately one arrived with horizontal stabiliser damage. Some tarmac rockape must have dropped an LD3 on the thing. I am not saying all porters are rockapes, but you know the ones that don't care if you work the deck.
Some of the TN units were TQN and others were TQP so I have asked for a check on regos ot the Ansett units.
The cost is $300.00 per unit, and worth it.
If you would like one of these please give me a yell.
Best regards

They would be MacRobertson Miller aircraft, from Western Australia, after Ansett took them over.

Delivery route: Schiphol-Ciampino-Bahrain-Damascus-Karachi-Delhi-Calcutta-Bangkok-
That should probably be ...Ciampino-Damascus-Bahrain... unless they did a 3 hour diversion. Flew these but can't remember how much fuel they carry. Unlikely they diverted back to DAM with Riyadh, Kuwait, Dammam, Jeddah, Amman available, to name but a few!

Flew these but can't remember how much fuel they carry.
Yeah...........lots of other PPruNers flew them too. I'm one of them, and I also can't remember the 'finer' details of the F27!
But all's not lost! Goto:

to revive the grey matter re the F27 specs.

I think the only F27 operating in Oz is EWP - callsign Navy Survey used for ocean survey work.

Buster,
Sorry Mate.
I was just trying to help EWL identify the aircraft.
Just lately every time you post anything on PPRuNe, even like that trying to help someone, all you get is others picking on your posts.
The details I posted were not written by me, already had one say it was incorrect, so I clarified that, mentioned a similar F27 ferry I did, but cut and pasted details from the other post, hence the wrong spelling again.

The 20 ton dog whistle was good fun. I remember the East West guys (I think) had a naming competition and the most popular name for the F27 was the Frugal Liner.
A few of my memories pasted below: (Sorry camera's weren`t very good in those days - and neither was my photography!)

Nil Defects - the 100 series carried 780 gallons underwing fuelled and 810 overwing.
Some days you had to wingwalk to whack in the last 30 gallons as it was needed and Spud Wjitely the Wynyard refueller refused to get up there as he nearly fell one day.
The 200/600 series was 1110 gallons underwing from memory - but I stand to be corrected on that.
Best regards

I quite liked the AN full stop livery, however I always thought that they stuffed up the F27 tail. Never quite fitted IMHO.

Yes, and that was why I apologised afterwards. :ok:
Just for some time now, almost every time you post anything, there is always someone has to have a go about something, again I am sorry, just lost it that day. :ugh:
The F27 is still one of my favourite aircraft ever.
I have some photos somewhere from the reverse ferry (back to Europe) of F27 VH-FNR, but it was in ASA colours.

Here is a recent photo of the old girl.
http://www.qam.com.au/aircraft/friendship/VH-WAN-07.jpg
She is still undergoing reassembly at the Queensland Air Museum at Caloundra. Ultimately she will be repainted as VH-FNQ in the Ansett Delta scheme. The airframe is in remarkably good condition and there aren't too many holes in the cockpit. The main problem is engines and props. We've tried all the usual suspects without success so if anyone has a couple of Darts salted away in the shed please let us know. They don't have to be whistlers, we just need something to go twixt firewall and prop (when we find them).
Any photos or stories about VH-FNQ (aka ZK-RTA and VH-WAN) will be most welcome.

Many thanks for your trouble. There is a very comprehensive history of VH-FNQ on the QAM website (http://www.qam.com.au/aircraft/friendship/VH-FNQ.htm).

Try the bankstown boys (IAP) I know they had a few that were used as training demo's and could possibly be installed for the needs required.

It looks like two of the VH-MMV models have sold, and I am going to add the 3rd to my collection of 67.
If anyone would really like a magnificent '60s produced display unit, or if you or your day flew for Ansett in the F27 here is a rare chance.
They are $300.00 delivered from NZ to Australia.
VH-TQN is nearly the most loved in my collection. The one piece VH-EWA resin model is my favourite. It followed me home the day that it was announced the fat scum sucker had bought us.
Ansett was the Evil Empire back in the days when I was growing up (not that I ever really got that right) and through my earlier working years, but you had to admire the fact that they fought tooth and nail at the frontline for the 1% of traffic that seperated us. Then you would have a beer after work.
That was when the Airlines valued staff, and the staff valued their Airline above nearly all else.
Anyhow, one - possibly 2 to go.
Give me a yell if you would like one.
