Navy helicopter with 5 aboard crashes off Calif.
Coast Guard and harbor police scour area south of San Diego for survivors

SAN DIEGO - A Navy helicopter with five people crashed into the ocean off San Diego, the U.S. Coast Guard said Wednesday.
Coast Guard Petty Officer Henry Dunphy said the Navy reported the crash of the HH60 Seahawk helicopter shortly before midnight Tuesday.
Dunphy said Coast Guard helicopters and boats along with harbor police were searching for survivors in the area 13 miles south of San Diego near the Coronado Islands.
There was no word on whether any wreckage or survivors had been discovered.
Dunphy didn't know from where the helicopter had taken off and Navy officials didn't immediately respond to phone messages left early Wednesday.
