a) 40mpg at all altitudes, all weights. regardless of temperature and wind.

Never known to vary empty or light, ever. Never varies one iota from new or about to be scrapped. Never ever varies from on engine manufacturer to another. Never varies from fuel type to fuel type or UK gallon to US gallon. Never varies with speed either. In fact all three figures are constant to within 0.000000001% all the time everywhere regardless of payload.
