Was invited to visit a private collection of military memorabilia relating mainly to RAAF Scampton and 617 Squadron.

Amongst it is this

This adorns the wall of his dining room, the scribbles on it are signatures of RAF Bomber crews over the years.

Center piece
Barnes-Wallace's signature top center

and finally

Anyone know the story or has their signature on it?

(mods wasn't sure whether here or Aviation history was the most apt - feel free to move it and slap my wrists)

What a wonderful piece of history. I see Roy Chadwick's signature just to the right of B-W and above Arthur T H.

That Bomber pic must be priceless. Surprised that such a wonderful piece of history is not on display in Hendon.

Agreed GPMG.

WL - Out of interest how did your buddy obtain these items?

As far as I know he purchased them legitimately, he also has a lot of stuff purchased from a pub near Scampton when the landlord that collected it moved on.

The first piece he told me had been auctioned by one of the associations to pay for a hanger.

I have a framed smaller copy of the inner 3 sections of this Lancaster pic. My late father's signature is on it too (ex-106 wartime nav).

I'm not sure how it came about, although I have a photo of my dad & two others as 60-odd year-olds (would have been approx 1980) standing pints in hand & '70s sideburns on face beside the original (or at least a full-size framed print).

I also have a copy of proceedings of a 5 Group reunion (Saturday 4th October 1975, Brize Norton) listing attendees (Harris, Cochrane, general 5 Group people etc.) - scans available if someone drops me a PM.
