They are a cargo hauler running DC-3.

Does anyone have any personal experience with this company? What are the crew and management like to work with? How's the maintenance? What's the pay like? Do they normally provide crew accommodations? What is San Juan like to live in?

Thanks

I wouldn't fly for that company.
San Juan is a nice place to live in the winter, the rest of the year is
very hot and humid. It's kind of an expesive place to live.

Do a search on this forum. 4 star has been discussed before. STT (TIST) was a fun place some years back, but Since some changes it appears not to be the same old company. Sad as it was really a neat place to see some round engines..

I didnt work there but knew some who did. Im sure they have all left by now.

I have a client who recently came from Four Star. Given his accounting of the company, you're well advised to steer clear.

They just lost a DC3 a few days ago.

Does anyone know the status of the rest of the fleet of 6 or 7 DC3's I know N131 had an engine fire and N138 burst a tyre on a single engine landing. FAA grounded one from flying freight because of its cargo restrant not having any paperwork. Which aircraft are still airworthy?

Thanks

May 1, 2009 -- Four Star Air Cargo voluntarily stopped flying its three DC-3 airplanes April 30 after a Federal Aviation Administration inspection on Tuesday showed that the airline's planes did not have FAA-approved engines. Four Star Chief Executive Officer Stuart Diamond disputes the FAA's contention that the planes have engines that are not certified.

Stuart Diamond told me they are operational again but with one aircraft.

If any of the guys from the St Thomas Hanger read this. We had some good times down that way. In da mornin, Strudel from Franks Bakery etc. Would certainly be looking to have a Red Stripe or two for a reunion.

Sad to hear, it was almost gone when I left. Either way it was fun to watch those round engines leak oil all over........ Im sure those who worked at STT are still around somewhere. I helped one of the mechs get a job in FL, he is very happy there.

I've seen a couple DC-3s recently shooting transition at SJU/TJSJ.
One high go-around had the gear down on the miss until he was out of sight.

I'll go back there by the hangars/cargo area and have a look.
Perhaps I can get the N numbers or ship number.
