Hi all,

Three questions ... :)

1. Whats the validity period of a Certificate of Proficiency (COP) that is issued by the WPC ?

2. Whats the validity of an FRTOL (the one issued by DGCA on the basis of COP) ??

3. A hypothetical situation ... : Lets say I have a COP issued on the basis of having a Canadian RT and also having Canadian CPL. and suppose this COP is valid till say .. Jun 2010.
Now, suppose I clear all formalities with DGCA for conversion of my Canadian CPL. And I submit all documents to DGCA and get my Indian CPL.
I assume my CPL and FRTOL will be valid for 5 years. (please correct me if Im wrong) and my Instrument Rating valid for 1 year.
which means my CPL and FRTOL will be valid till 2014 ??
Now, suppose my COP (which is valid till 2010) gets expired and if for some reason I am not able to renew it ... what then happens to my FRTOL ??
Does it still remain valid ?
What should I do then till 2014 if it is indeed valid ? Apply for conversion of foreign FRTOL again with WPC or any other procedure ?

Cheers !

1. Validity will be written on your COP
2. When you get Indian CPL then you will have FRTO WITH VALIDITY ON IT.
3.you can renew COP if it has been issued to you, Based on your experience on handling aeronautical radio operation.
Once you get Indian CPL ,Indian DGCA will print validity as well.
FRTOL is after obtaining Indian CPL.
You can keep COP validation till 2014 and beyond

hi saperaa,

well, that sort of answers my questions, but I guess I was not clear on the 3rd one.

Let me put it this way.
Suppose my COP is valid till 2010. Now if I submit my documents for conversion to DGCA, will the FRTOL be valid till 2014 or till the validity of COP ?

Also, if my COP is valid till 2010 and FRTOL valid till 2014 .. will my FRTOL still be valid if I for some reason am not able to renew my COP by 2010 ???

hi shanx,

if your COP expires in 2010 but your canadian rt is valid for a few more years,
then u have to first get your COP renewed irrespective of what the date is
on your FRTOL. u can have a valid FRTOL only if your COP is valid. however , if
your canadian rt too is expiring then u have to get the same renewed first, and then renew the indian COP . Or else
pass RTR(A) part I&II here and get an indian RT which u can get renewed every
3 years without worrying about the foreign rt.
