Things are not healthy in Chinese aviation.
China Eastern reports 2.2 Billion dollar loss for 2008. Double China Airlines (of Taiwan) loss.

Alls not doom and gloom. First quarter profits are UP for Chinese airlines !!

hmm I wonder how the aviation industry can register a 116M US profit when ONE airline by itself is 2.2Billion US in the hole !! And Eastern is not the only one to be well known as having major difficulties. One of the airlines was liquidated early this year, wonder how that adds up to a 116M US profit. Maybe if we count the 2 Billion RMB fund injected by the government to help the 2 major airlines then of course numbers should be up. However if we are talking about passenger volume growth then yes I agree that the industry is developping rapidly !!!
