A friend is flying LHR-HKG-LHR (both sectors in late July) and would like to know whether 70 seat Club or 52 seat Club 747s are used.

Does anyone know?

Could be either as both are used to HKG, or indeed a 3 class 777 in July. You'll need to be more specific.
