I'm currently working on my CFII, and I have a few questions about logging instrument time.
According to §61.51(g)(2), you as an instructor may log instrument time when conducting instrument flight instruction in actual instrument flight condition. People I have talked to at my school have the impression that an instructor may log instrument approaches if the approach is made under actual instrument flight conditions, but I cannot find anything in the FARs that support this. So, my question is, can you do it?
And another question, how much of the approach must be flown under actual conditions in order to log the approach?

And my final question. What is definition of actual instrument flight conditions? If I fly over a lake at night, without any outside visual references, and the only way to safely fly the aircraft is to use the instruments, can I log it as actual instrument time?
