Hello,

I am going on an interesting cross country, flying around 18h in 2 days in Canada. I would like my family and friends to be able to track me, or at least get info about my route. I was told that there is a website offering that service for free. I couldn't find it. Does any of you know about it?

Thanks :ok:

For $150 buy a Spot tracker. It wil send a message with lat and long every time you tell it to. For another $100 a year you can get tracking too, with automatic positions sent every ten minutes. It should work in canada.

I dont think there is a specific aviation system for Canada but for future reference if in the USA www.flightaware.com (http://www.flightaware.com) is the tool

What about mobile phones that have free tracking like Mobile cell phone GPS tracking (http://www.trackapartner.com/)

Not free, but Yellowbrick - Truly Global, GPS and Iridium based Satellite Tracking for Adventure (http://www.adventuretracking.com/) does what you want, and seems to work well - probably overkill for your needs though.

The website FlightAware - Free Flight Tracker - IFR Flight Status, Tracking, History, Maps (http://www.flightaware.com) already mentioned covers Canada as well. However, it does not cover VFR flights IIRC. So, to be snooped on by friends, family and industry regulators you need to file IFR.
