My wife and I have visited many other areas of the continent. This would be short holiday trip.
Are there frequent bus/train connections to nearby villages, or further out to Liege, the Ardennes etc?

How long is a train ride from AMS with the required connection in Brussels North?

Thanks for any tips.

hi,
trip from AMS to LuX take about 4h30 by road and think it's the easiest means of transport in order to not loose too much time with the train system wich take way longer between these cities.
there are frequent train connection but need to change at Bruxelles to LuX.
If you need to go to Liège, here the car will fit for sure not loosing time in complicated and lenghtly train connection.
Lux to Liège take abour 1h45 by car! and you would enjoy the trip trough the Ardennes on the way to there. (via Bastogne, trough nationale 4 , ie)
nice place to see too is Durbuy if you have some times.
hope this help you a bit.
