Windows 2000 Conficker Help [Archive]

I am quite sure that I have the Conficker C virus and I need a bit of help to remove it. The worm seems smart enough to be able to disable any of the patches that I copied to this PC. I had to download patches from another PC and then transfer them to this one because I can no longer access microsoft, symantic or any sites that I would normally go to to get a patch or fix.

I have all the patches but I am unable to use them because the worm terminates the applications as soon as I start them. I think that if I run the PC in safe mode I will be able to run the patch but the worm has deleted the registry key that allows a boot to safe mode.

Is anyone running W2000 that can copy or export the following key.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\SafeBoot

Once it is exported just open in notepad and post it here. I can then import the key and I will be able to boot in safe mode again.

I have tried the link that you posted - It does not seem to provide any direct evedence of infection or otherwise - The module only requests a updlad of files for statistical analysis. What's actually going on with the module.

Worked for me - downloaded the zip file, ran the exe and checked my system is clean.

I had a copy of BitDefender but every time I tried to run it the worm terminated the session. Thats why I needed to start in safe mode. I ran the app in safe mode and everything was done in a few minutes.
