Hallo,

I am looking for a colour or black and white profile of the Supermarine Swift F.4.

Does somebody know in which coulour scheme the Supermarine Swift WK198 was painted? the WK198 was the Swift that established a speed record in 1953 with Mike Lithgow.

Who can help me?

Thanks

Bart

I seem to remember reading a book called 'Swift Justice' a couple of years ago.
That had some great photos of the F.4.

I'll try and dig it out this weekend.

The following is an extract from an article in Flight International issue 11th Sept 1953 which covered the SBAC Show for that year.
Vickers-Supermarine Swift —The blue-painted Swift F.4 prototype, WK198, is Supermarine's representative at Farnborough, though an F.3 [sic] joined in the flying display on Monday. WK198 has two-position reheat for its Avon, provision for four 30 mm guns, and, of course, a radar gunsight.

The partly restored fuselage still survives at the RAF Millom museum in Cumbria :ok:

Remember seeing it at the MU RAF Aldergrove where it was stored 1957/1958. It was a pale blue colour.
