A PLANE has crashed in Victoria's southwest with at least one person suffering burns.

The plane crashed at Scotts Creek, about 200km southwest of Melbourne.
Paramedics were treating one person with burns and a back injury, an Ambulance Victoria spokesman said.

A pilot has walked 2km for help after his crop duster crashed into trees, disintegrated and caught fire in Victoria's southwest.

The 32-year-old suffered burns to his arms and injured his back when his Cessna went down at Scotts Creek near Cobden, about 200km southwest of Melbourne, on Wednesday.

He was airlifted to The Alfred hospital in a stable condition.

Paramedic Mick Adam said the man was flying at around 80km/h and about 30 metres above the ground when the plane hit trees.

"His aircraft disintegrated, caught fire - he is a very lucky man," Mr Adam told reporters.

He said the pilot somehow walked away from the crash and had to trek two kilometres to a farmhouse to get help.

"He had burns to his arms and some back pain but he's extremely lucky," Mr Adam said.

He said ambulance staff administered some morphine to help him cope with the pain.

A spokeswoman for the Country Fire Authority said the crash sparked a small grass fire, which was quickly brought under control.


Very lucky indeed -was it really a Cessna or is that the reporter's generic description of a light aircraft?

From the look of what was left of the aircraft I dont think it was a cessna.
Maybe a Pawnee. But dont quote me on it.
