Aviation related jobs for cpl student

Hi, Just wondering if anyone has any information on any jobs around for someone who is currently doing their CPl training. I currently have a job outside of the industry but would like to get a job related to flying. I have thought about freight loading in GA or possibly some sort of dispatch/ops. the main problem is it has to be weekend based work. If anyone has any ideas or contacts I would greatly appreciate your help greatly. Please feel free to Pm me.

I got into running / being the operations desk 'biatch' on weekends at my flying school.

Although not a flying job, I did it for about a year aside from my weekly 9 to 5 money earner while command time building... First foot in the door, that kind of thing....

Just being around the industry getting to know people is invaluable - it subsequently led to me scoring my first flying job :ok:

Thanks KingRB, I will talk to my flying school about taking that opportunity up when available as someone is already in the position. Yes it's just that extra exposure I would like to get.

work in the hangar, washing/vacuuming aircraft.. dumping the oil, changing filters and spark plugs etc.

It will help you when you go out bush for your first gig.

Throwing bags or being a check in agent with Aerocare or one of the majors could give you an insight for later on if you get into an airline.

Mr Hat I have checked Aerocare and it says head office is in Brisbane but doesn't list brisbane as an employment location. Do Aerocare handle check in staff at Brisbane or is Brisbane through another supplier?

If you can try and get a job with any of the Aircraft refueling companies, you will be set. You get to meet a lot of the operators on the airfield and hear when jobs are coming up. You also get to know quite a few Chief and Senior pilots of companies, for which one day you may end up being employed by.

Most pilots from what I have seen are porn addicts, best way IMO to get your face around the industry quickly with as much exposure as you can :}

Hmm not sure if they do have an contracts in BNE. You would have to research who does ground handling for each and every company. But in the process you might make some contacts. Take note of all operators that operate out of the domestic intl airports. Then get on the phone and do soem digging.

Get to know people, their name their face take notes ect. Its painful but its got to be done..

With the course you're in, you'd be lucky if you could even fit a weekend job in..
I hear that they do want you back on Saturdays if the weather is unsuitable to keep your hours flowing on weekdays..

I am kind of in a similar position, so am also interested in what wisdom can come out of this thread.
I did look at AeroCare earlier.
How about giving BAC (Brisbane Airport Corporation) a call to see if they have any jobs fitting what aerocare handles in other airports. I may contact them soon!

Great idea. You may want to check whether any other flying schools on your field want a receptionist/front desk on the weekends.

I have seen this done at MB. At my flying school, nobody cared that "our" student worked for an opposition company. At the other company, no-one cared that the student was learning to fly at our school.
