Hi all,
On 7th February it shall be 70 years since Alex Henshaw MBE landed
at Wingfield during his World record flight in 1939!

Alex was a close personal friend and my hero as a child!
I was also there at the scattering of his ashes so I would dearly
like to do something at the halfway point of the record

I'm near Cape Town at the moment and probably shall be still here on the 7th February!
(The day he got here) Is there anyone out there that would like
to get together at the memorial at Wingfield (or somewhere nearby) to commemorate
this super human triumph of one of Britain's finest aviators and gentlemen?

I have never been to Wingfield but am aware there is a memorial there
and I would SO love to visit it especially on this day! Anyone?
Im currently in Hermanus

About to fly back to the UK!

NB Alex allowed me to copy these and many other photographs from his personal albums!
I DO NOT consider them public property! However i'm unsure of copyright
and also do not feel they should be kept away?
He was always extremely annoyed how 'some' used his name for gain so
to speak! However, I also feel without doubt that he would not have the
slightest objection for me posting these!

I trust they give some of you a little more of an insight into his amazing feat
of aviation and endurance if you haven't seen them before?
