View Full Version : Hotmail/ Firefox Not Printing

My friend has discovered that she had a problem printing out her hotmail documents. That is, apart from the Windows Live |Hotmail header, only the odd line or two (not content) of her Hotmail documents actually print. On checking, I found that it is not only Hotmail, but anything we try to print in Firefox won’t print. The printer makes all the sounds of recognising text as the paper travels through, but no text is actually printed I tried Command All on the document, then printing- no difference. I then took the document into Word. Still wouldn’t print. I then deleted the content in Word, and on the same screen, typed in some random text. The text printed OK. So it must be something to do with the Firefox docs.

The printer, a Lexmark Z601, has given no problems since being purchased a few years ago, until this occurred a few days ago.

Anyone any thoughts??

PS Just deleted the old Lexmark driver, in case it was corrupted, and loaded up a new one. Unfortunately, still no joy.

Just as a suggestion, check that the character encoding (< view menu> ) is set to western or Unicode and hasn't been set to something silly like cyrillic

Thanks, gg, had a look- set at Western- tried Unicode- still no joy. Opened up this page via IE- tried to print- same results- only header at top, url at bottom printing! It just is not printing Internet content.

I'll see if I can borrow another printer, but in the meantime, has anyone any further theories on what the problem may be?

Tried an Epson All-In One- printed without problems. So it is almost certainly a driver problem with the Lexmark.

But we still can't understand why this problem has only occurred a few weeks ago, after several years of no problems!?

Is it XP? if so try doing a roll back to a time it was working, there have been some recent 'fixes' from MS that may have stopped the printer from working.
