We are having all kinds of problems burning off DVDs on our computers (nothing dodgy!!!).

A variety of computers are all exhibiting the same problems whereby the computer/software eventually gives up the ghost and various error messages appear.

One of the computers advised that the laser lens was dirty on an error message.

The lenses have not been cleaned for some time.

Although you can buy lens cleaners for DVDs/CD players, is it possible to buy more specialist cleaners for DVD/CD/CD-ROM burners and writers?

If so, which do you recommend.

Thanks in anticipation.

Cotton buds and Isopropyl alcohol is what is normally used :ok:

You should be able to get it from a chemist shop by asking for it.

Further to GG: the high-street lens cleaner I used came with a bottle whose active ingredient is isopropyl alcohol.

Used it with no damage to the laser. (didn't cure the problem, however, as the connector was subsequently found to have crept out of the socket :ugh:)

Good as new now... and probably didn't need the cleaner anyway, but the bottom line is no harm done :)

Thanks for your replies.

I've tried the remedies and, hopefully, cleared the problem.
