Nice to see it going back into service, has it really been seven years since we delivered it from Duxford?
Wow time sure passes quickly.
It was a very nice flying Cat in fact one of the best I have flown, was going to say how many I have flown over the decades but can't remember. :ugh:

yes it was - I was there to see you and M & C do several fly-by's.
Give the aircraft has been outside for that length of time it is remarkable that it is still in such good condition.
Am still involved with the aircraft as a volunteer. helping out on weekends etc. Both props are now where they should be along with spares that did 2 transatlantic crossings more than they needed too 'in error'

It is nice to sit here at home and see another great airplane brought back to flying condition.
It has been over three years since I retired and as I knew would happen I still get the urge to go back to flying these things...but I made the decision to retire at 70 and am sticking to that decision.
I saw to many pilots who kept flying on and on until their skills decayed through the aging process and they started to fu.k up and some made fatal mistakes.
Thankfully there are a very skilled group of my former colleagues out there who can keep these wonderful machines flying both mechanics and pilots.....I like to think they are part of me in a way carrying on where I left off. :ok:

I have a summer place on the west coast of Vancouver Island and the sail boat is one of the toys I keep there.
I will not quit flying though because I am going to operate a Cub on floats from my summer home and plan on doing training on it for those who want something different.
I also have use of a new Husky on amphibious floats that I will be giving training on but only to licensed pilots......I am not willing to go through all the hoops to set up a flight training school for the simple reason I can no longer suffer the stupidity of the bureaucracy.
By the way as proof that some of the things these morons claim to be human factors that will put you at high risk of having an accident is that B.S. about " Anti authority " that is just their fear factor method to fool you into respecting them.....if there was any truth in it I would have been dead decades ago. :E

Apologies to those having trouble with the link.
I've just checked the site from here and it works fine in both Opera 9.63 and also in Internet Explorer version 6.0.2900 SP3
I've also checked it on a Mac running Safari 3.1.2
If anyone has any pointers to what the problem might be I'd be grateful, although I'll be incommunicado now until 3 Jan.

Chuck,
I saw a Catalina in East Anglia at an airshow a couple of years ago,possibly at Rougham is this based at Duxford?
Your boat looks familiar,is it a Vancouver 27 or 32?
They were sold over here some years ago and were very strong boats.
I did it the other way round,sailing,then racing cars now flying which I came to rather late in life.
Still go sailing with pals and dabble in vintage cars,but boys must have toys.
And a very understanding wife!:ok::ok::ok:
