Oh Lord, Dr Pleming is back to his old routine again today -
Unfortunately, Vulcan XH558 will now be grounded unless further funding of £1million is identified by end of January 2009.
Either it's yet another in his long series of "this is the end unless..." statements, or the project really is at an end. Clearly, a million pounds isn't going to appear by January.
I note that one of the team is already making noises about how they can at least keep the aircraft in taxyable condition. This means that they evidently have no intention of trying to get the aircraft out of the UK while they can, over to the US, where it could survive in good condition for much longer, and at least have a slim chance of flying again some time (clearly, once it stops flying here, the CAA will effectively ensure it never does again). Presumably, the people who have enjoyed their (very) well-paid posts in the TVOC team don't really care any more, if the gravy train is to finally dry up.
What a farce.
