hi,

if you were to switch off the IR pushbutton but keep the adiru selector in NAV would you be able to recover the IR by the pushing it back in?

the other question is if you were to select ATT mode due to an IR failure and the IR recovers can you reselect NAV mode?

thanx.

if you turned it off just for the fun (no ecam action) then you could recover it. If your following an ecam mssg it probably has failed.

sorry should have been more specific ont the acft type.

on the 330/340 along with the rotary switch are seperate pb's for the ADR and IR. hence you can switch of which ever one you want.
if a reference could be given to the books it would be much appreciated. thanx.

The A319 and A320 also have two switches for the IR (rotary) and ADR (pushbutton).
Sorry on my previous answer I thought you meant with the airplane not moving. if you are moving Max Angle is right; your IR is HASTA LA VISTA BABY!!

The only thing you can recover in flight is Attitude and heading (if you tell the IR what your heading is by typing it on the ADIRUs CDU). But realignment is not possible with the airplane moving, so NAV mode is lost.
