I bought a game the other day, Colin Macrae Dirt. First problem was a missing DirectX DLL, which I have sorted out.

Now I get an error saying the game won't run because my graphics card won't support Shader 3.0.

So I need a new graphics card. I have a Dell Dimension 5150 PC. I've seen them on the NVIDIA website, the 7600 or 7800 look good but I can't seem to find out if they will be compatible with my PC. Anyone know a location where I can check compatibility?

Thanks

Your PC (http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/dimen_5150?c=us&cs=28&l=en&s=dfb) has 1 PCIe x 16 (graphics) slot - that's PCI Express.

You need a PCI Express PCI-E (or PCIe) x16 graphics card.

Simple, innit!

Just be carefull about the cards power requirements!!

Something like an ATI 4850 would be very good for less than £100.
