Large items/Fragile e.g a cello can go in the cabin strapped to a seat-most airlines make them pay for the seat. Ive never heard of anything bigger then a cello doing that but i guess if someones happy to pay for it they can do it!!!!

I bet that the Statue was probably hollow anyway - think of the weight of the bronze and its scrap value -i.e. The metal not the Artwork - PS was it Plastic then the latter applies.

Hollow or not it's still a big lump to be in the cabin in the event of an accident.

Would've though putting it in a crate in the hold was a better option :ok:
