It looks like a Rotorway Exec / Talon from the Step on what remains of the skid cross-tube. Also the Pitch change horn on the main blade looks like the rotorway one.

I know of only one Rotorway in the Netherlands in this colour scheme - PH-NTL. Photo Helicare Rotorway Exec 162F PH-NTL (http://www.planepictures.net/netshow.php?id=535130)

Condolencies to the family of the deceased. RIP.

I can confirm it was that machine, according to the crash photo here:
RTV Oost - Helikopter bij Nordhorn gecrasht (http://rtvoost.nl/nieuws/?page=1&cat=1&id=90218)

Another article said that a second helicopter was following with his wife and a flight instructor on board, but they can rule out mid-air collision. The second helicopter took off at the same time but was already gone at the time of the crash. Apparently the Rotorway/Exec fell off the sky like a stone, according to two hunters who witnessed the accident.

More pictures here. Nord-West-Media TV: 16.11.08-Nordhorn-Hubschrauber abgestürzt-Pilot tot (http://www.nord-west-media.de/index.php?id=3002)

Looks like low rpm and chopped the tail off.
